The Belgian program “Un Monde à part,” broadcast on RTBF, has dedicated two exceptional reports to Tassili n’Ajjer in Algeria. Guided by François Mazure, journalist and adventurer, viewers discover this fascinating desert where the history of humanity is engraved in stone.
From Djanet, the gateway to Tassili, the journey begins with breathtaking landscapes: golden dunes, lunar plateaus, sandstone arches sculpted by the wind… But this grandiose setting also hides an invaluable archaeological treasure. The massif conceals thousands of rock paintings dating back several millennia, evidence of a once fertile and inhabited Sahara.
Accompanied by a local guide, Mazure explores this “open-air museum” with emotion. He also shares the daily life of the Tuaregs, desert nomads with an ancestral way of life, guardians of traditions and wisdom.
Through these two episodes, “Un Monde à part” invites us to discover Algeria in a different light: a country of silence, memory, and raw beauty, a true world apart.
